Alberto Cannistraci, a senior at The Sage Colleges, and Antony Mantova, a senior at St. John Fisher College, both recently began interning with NYSPHSAA for the summer.

Alberto is a Business Administration major with a concentration in Marketing and a Class of 2016 graduate of Colonie Central High School. Aside from earning Dean’s List honors all four years in high school, he lettered in soccer at Colonie (Section II) as a two-year varsity team member where he played in the center midfield role. After Colonie, he continued his studies and athletic career at The Sage Colleges in the Fall of 2016. His freshman year he helped the team make it to the Skyline Conference final followed by reaching the Empire 8 Conference final his sophomore year. Alberto, recently elected team captain, will enter his senior year this Fall.

“I am very thankful and excited to have this tremendous opportunity interning at NYSPHSAA,” Alberto stated. “Playing soccer has always been an important aspect of my life, providing me with opportunities to grow, learn, travel and have fun. It is wonderful to be interning at an organization containing a goal to make athletics as enjoyable as possible for young athletes. By doing so it gives them the ability to go and achieve their own goals they have set toward their passions.”

Antony is also a graduate of Colonie Central High School where he was a member of the Dean’s List all four years.  He participated in soccer and lettered twice in baseball. Antony was a two-year starter in the outfield for the Garnet Raiders varsity team and was selected as a team captain for his team senior year. At St. John Fisher, he is a Sport Management major who will be going into his senior year in the Fall. Antony is not only a member of the baseball team at St. John Fisher but also is a member of the Fisher Entrepreneurship Association Club and helps with Athletic Game Management for the school.  This past season he was recognized as an All-Conference First Team Outfielder in the Empire 8 Conference.  He was also named National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America.

“I am thrilled and grateful to be interning for a reputable organization such as NYSPHSAA,” said Antony.  “I fell in love with sports at a very young age. Being able to pursue a job in the sports industry is something that has been a goal of mine for quite some time.  NYSPHSAA is allowing me to get real world experience which will enhance my knowledge on the field and help my career going forward.”
