Milk Moves of the Week - February 13, 2019

Welcome to “Milk Moves of the Week” sponsored by Refuel With Chocolate Milk from the American Dairy Association North East! Outstanding athletic performance is evidence of practice, superior physical conditioning and good nutrition. Each week, we share a rundown from around the state of the top “Milk Moves” of the week as nominated by our member schools, coaches, media partners, and fans. No matter the sport, we want to share the accomplishments of NYSPHSAA student-athletes!

Wrestling: Adam Busiello (Eastport-South Manor) scored four consecutive first-period pins in route to his fifth consecutive Section XI wrestling title.

Boys Ice Hockey: Ben Di Fiore (Adirondack) racked in 42 saves in a win over La Salle.

Boys Basketball: Joe Girard III (Glens Falls) set a new Section 2 record with a 69-point performance in a win over Schylerville. Girard’s big night included 10 3-pointers as he poured in 45 of his points in the first half.

Girls Basketball: Kaia Henderson (New Hartford) set a new program record with 47 points in a win against Moravia.

Boys Swimming & Diving: Jonathan Ma (Ardsley-Hast-Edge-Dobbs-Irv) finished the 100m butterfly with a time of 50.56, hitting a state-qualifying time and setting the best time in the state so far this season.

Bowling: Isabella Palamaro (North Rockland) won the Section I singles bowling championships with a six-game series score of 1,469, including a high game of 290.

Girls Indoor Track & Field: Venessa Watson (Spencerport) finished the 600m in 1:30.84, setting the best time in the state so far at the NYRR Millrose Games.

Boys Indoor Track & Field: Kenneth Wei (Mount Sinai) finished the 55m Hurdles in 7.34, setting a new personal record and the best time in the state so far at the Section XI State Qualifier.
