Welcome to this week’s edition of “Milk Moves of the Week” sponsored by Refuel With Chocolate Milk from the American Dairy Association North East! Outstanding athletic performance is evidence of practice, superior physical conditioning and good nutrition. Each week, we share a rundown from around the state of the top “Milk Moves” of the week as nominated by our member schools, coaches, media partners, and fans. No matter the sport, we want to share the accomplishments of NYSPHSAA student-athletes!
Football: Anthony Cambria (Comsewogue) made 7 catches for 318 receiving yards and four touchdowns in a win over Hauppauge, tying the state record for receiving yards in a single game.
Boys Soccer: Frank Colantuono (Arlington) scored a hat trick, including the winning goal in the second overtime, to help snap defending Class AA Monroe-Woodbury’s 26-game winning streak.
Girls Cross Country: Ella Kurto (Saratoga) finished the 5k race with a time of 17:15.74 at the Guilderland Invitational.
Boys Cross Country: Sam Lawler (Pittsford Mendon) finished with a 5k time of 15:32.4 this weekend at the pre-state meet held at SUNY Plattsburgh.
Girls Volleyball: Gelmajona Marrero Martinz (Schenectady) had 15 kills and 15 digs in their win over Columbia.
Girls Soccer: Corinne Meidreich (Pearl River) made 16 saves in a 1-0 shutout win over Albertus Magnus.
Girls Swimming & Diving: Alexa Reyna (White Plains) swam the 200 Freestyle in 1:55.30, giving her the fastest time in the state this year.
Field Hockey: Taryn Ringer (Johnstown) racked up six goals in a big win over Gloversville.
