Carol Moss is known for her success as a coach in a variety of sports, especially volleyball, in which she closed in on 600 career wins since her first year in 1972. Furthermore, Ms. Moss’s volleyball teams have captured numerous Onondaga High School League (OHSL) titles and Section 3 championships. During her tenure as a volleyball coach, Ms. Moss has received numerous honors including 1995 Region I Coach of the Year, 1995 National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Association National Coach of the Year, and Woman of the Year by the National Organization for Women (1998). The culmination of her honors came in 1999 when she was inducted into the Greater Syracuse Hall of Fame where she has served on the Executive Board since 2002.

Since her arrival at Solvay, Ms. Moss coached soccer from 1968-2001 where her teams won several OHSL and Section 3 crowns. While also spending 10 seasons as the school’s head softball coach (1975-84) and 13 more seasons as the head basketball coach (1968-80), she coached Solvay teams in tennis, gymnastics, track & field, bowling, and cheerleading.

Along with a bevy of coaching responsibilities, Ms. Moss served on the Section 3 Executive Committee, Gender Equity Committee, and the Girls Sports Committee each for at least six years. For over 20 years, she served on the Mixed Competition Committee, Volleyball Committee, and Soccer Committee for Section 3.

Ms. Moss earned a degree in 1966 from SUNY Brockport for her undergraduate work and earned her CAS degree from SUNY Cortland in 1972 and 1989. Since then, she has served as Director of Physical Education and as a PE instructor. In 2002, she was appointed as Dean of Students and continued her directorship of the physical education department.
