John “Jack” D. Jones was one of the most respected administrators in Section IV having served as a Director of Physical Education and Athletics at Norwich City Schools (1989-2000), Vestal Central School (1987-89) and at Sidney High School. Born in Scranton, PA, Mr. Jones was the NYS Athletic Administrators Association Athletic Director of the Year in 1996-97, and was also inducted into the Section IV Hall of Fame in 2001 and the NYS Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. For 22 years, he served on the NYSPHSAA Executive Committee and was chairman of the Classification of Non-Public Schools Committee. Now retired, Jack was also a successful basketball coach leading Liberty and Sidney to numerous league and sectional titles, one NYSPHSAA championship and five Coach of the Year awards.
