Susan Wicks was known as one of the greatest girls basketball players in Long Island history. Wicks was a superstar at Center Moriches High School in Section XI where she shattered the record for most points in a high school game with 59. Ms. Wicks, who is currently the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at St. Francis College, continued an illustrious basketball career at Rutgers University becoming the most decorated women’s player ever. At Rutgers, she was a three-time All American and is the record holder at the school for most career points, rebounds, blocks and steals. Before the WNBA was founded, Wicks went on to play professional basketball for 15 years in four countries then returned home in the WNBA’s inaugural season to play for the New York Liberty from 1997-2002. She is a member of the Rutgers Hall of Fame and was a member of the 1988 US Olympic team.
