He began an illustrious career at Oceanside High School in Section VIII where he started for three years and passed for over 4,800 yards—a Nassau County record—and was named an All-County player after his junior and senior seasons. While at Oceanside, Jay was also an outstanding basketball player and track athlete. He was a three-year starter and received All County honors as a senior guard on the basketball team. In track, he broke the State record in the pentathlon twice and was an All-State honoree his junior and senior seasons. Following graduation at Oceanside, Jay went onto become a record-breaking quarterback at Dartmouth where he completed 456 passes in 813 attempts and threw for 6,684 yards and 58 touchdowns. He was Ivy League Player of the Year in 1992 and was an All-Ivy League selection his final three years at Dartmouth where he earned a degree in engineering. Fiedler’s professional career began in 1993 when he was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Although he was not a starter his first two years with the Eagles, he was a sought after free agent by Minnesota in 1998, Jacksonville in 1999 and eventually the Miami Dolphins in 2000 where he had five respectable seasons as the starter there. With the Dolphins, he led the team to three 10+ win seasons in a four-year period which included two postseason appearances and an AFC East title. Overall, he passed for 11,844 yards and 69 touchdowns in his NFL career and finished with the New York Jets.
