Alan Mallanda, CMAA, a graduate of Red Hook High School (Section IX) and SUNY Cortland, was a teacher, coach, official and athletic administrator for 36 years. He became Executive Director of the New York State Athletic Administrators Association (NYSAAA) 15 years ago and still holds that position today. He has served as President of both NIAAA and NYSAAA, and also served as a member of the NYSPHSAA Task Force studying sports seasons. In addition to being the Executive Director of NYSAAA, Mallanda recently completed a two-year term as Chair of the National Executive Directors’ Council. He spent his last 20 years of school administration in the Corning Painted Post Area School District administering a physical education and athletic program for two high schools, two middle schools, and nine elementary schools with 6,000 students, 32 full-time staff and 125 coaches. Mallanda received the NIAAA Award of Merit, was inducted into the Section IV and NIAAA Hall of Fame in 2011, and the NYSAAA Hall of Fame in 2014. Other honors include a National Federation Citation and the NIAAA State Award of Merit.
