Dominic Cecere, a graduate of Pelham High School (Section I) and New York University, is one of the all-time greatest baseball coaches in New York State. He has been the Eastchester High School head coach since 1965 compiling a 712-374-3 career record while leading his teams to 15 League Titles and six Sectional Titles. Prior to being hired at Eastchester, Coach Cecere played for the Yankees Rookies and was a star outfielder and co-captain at NYU. After graduation, he was hired by the district as a physical education teacher as well as a baseball and football coach. Four years into his tenure, Cecere was named Athletic Director and has held several other positions within the Eastchester School District including Coordinator of Physical Education, School Health Services Director, Coordinator of Student Activities and Baseball Camp Director. Ranked number one all-time in career wins in Section I, Cecere was also an inductee of the Eastchester Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Westchester County Sports Hall of Fame. In 1981, he was honored with the New York State Coaches Association Award. A year later he was named the National High School Coaches’ Association District 1 Coach of the Year and in 2005, was recognized as the recipient of the Frank McGuire Award for his work in the tri-state area.
