Marcus J. Martone has taught, coached and been an athletic administrator for many organizations, including the NYSPHSAA from 1973-92 where he served as the Assistant Director and Treasurer.
Prior to his arrival as a NYSPHSAA employee, Mr. Martone was appointed as the Association’s Vice President in 1969-71 while he was chairman of physical education, head of boys interscholastic sports, and head football coach at H. Following his two-year term as the NYSPHSAA President, Mr. Martone was honored as the Coach of the Year for his success with the Carey High football program in 1974. That would be his last school year at Carey as he returned to Sewanhaka High the following September to accept the position of Athletic Director where he previously was the assistant football coach and on the staff of the physical education department at the start of his career.
Mr. Martone has served on various committees as well. In Nassau County, he was the President for the Nassau County Athletic Advisory Council from 1975-76 and the President of the Nassau County Football Coaches Association from 1957-58. A Glen Cove native, Mr. Martone has been honored on numerous occasions for his contributions.
