By Nick Canzoneri, NYSPHSAA Spring 2022 Intern

The 2022 NYSPHSAA Gymnastics State Championships will be hosted at Kenmore West High School (Section VI) in Buffalo. The tournament returns to Kenmore after Cold Spring Harbor High School (Section VIII) hosted the event from 2017-2020. Kenmore, which won the bid to host through 2025, last hosted the gymnastics state meet in 2016.

The event takes place on Saturday, March 5th with opening ceremonies beginning at 10 am followed by warm-ups and competition.  The closing awards ceremony will commence at 3 pm recognizing the individual and section champions in bars, beam, floor, vault and all-around events.

“It’s great to be back for this year’s state championship,” said Marbry Gansle, longtime Gymnastics State Coordinator.  “I felt so bad for the gymnasts that could not compete in last year’s event and I look forward to seeing some colleagues in person at the championship.  The camaraderie these state championships bring about is always special and it’s going to be a great time.”

Last time the state tournament took place in 2020, Section III won the team title and Miranda Smith (Section III) was the All-Around Champion winning events in Bars, Beam and Floor Exercise while Skye Harper (Section XI) won the Vault event.

Tickets are $10 for the day and can be purchased online only prior to the state championship. Visit  https://gofan.co/app/school/NYSPHSAA. Cash sales will not be available at the Kenmore.
