The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Dual Meet Wrestling State Championship returns to the SRC arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College in Syracuse on January 28th.

This is the 5th year of the Dual Meet Wrestling Championships—a one-day event. In 2022, the Division 1 team champion was Minisink Valley (Section IX), who also won the tournament in 2020. The Division 2 team champion was Tioga (Section IV), claiming their first ever state title for Dual Meet Wrestling. Both Minisink Valley and Tioga have competed in every state championship since the start of the tournament in 2018.

“The NYSPHSAA Staff and Wrestling State Committee is very excited for this year's Dual Meet State Championship hosted by the SRC Arena in Syracuse,” said Marty Sherman, Wrestling State Coordinator.  “Some of the elite teams across New York State will be competing and will make this event exciting to watch whether you’re a parent or casual fan. In addition to the Duals, there will be the first ever girls individual tournament on Friday with 208 participants which should prove to be a very exciting weekend especially giving girls the first formal opportunity to compete on a big stage. It will certainly be a special weekend for the wrestling community.”

The event will see 24 teams competing in 2 divisions, comprised from 11 sections sending a representative for each division (excluding Section VII in Division 1). Also included are two at-large entries for Division 1 and one at-large entry for Division 2. Each team will compete in three pool play matches with the top four teams in each division advancing to the semifinals.
