The 2023 NYSPHSAA Boys Ice Hockey Championships returned to Harborcenter in Buffalo in Section VI. 

The two-day tournament saw the best teams in division 1 and division 2 meet in the state semifinals on Saturday, March 11 with the winners advancing to the state finals on Sunday, March 12.

For the third consecutive tournament one section won both the division 1 and division 2 championships. In 2019 it was section III winning both titles with Syracuse and Skaneateles winning it all. In 2022 section I took the top spots thanks to Pehlam and Suffern winning the crowns and in 2023 it was section III sweeping again with West Genesee and Skaneateles winning the state championships.
