Latham, NY- The New York State Public High School Athletic Association, Inc. (NYSPHSAA) announces Lexi Swatt as its Director of Sports Information & Digital Content.
Swatt, who was a sports anchor and reporter at WNYT, NewsChannel 13 (Albany, NY) since 2021, will join the NYSPHSAA staff next week. Prior to WNYT, she was a host and on-air talent for
The Game Day, an online sports entertainment and media company geared toward millennials and Gen Z. Swatt additionally brings experience as a photojournalist and editor with WVEC (Norfolk, VA) and as a producer and site manager for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Network, which NYSPHSAA has utilized as its streaming platform for state championships. In several of her positions, she’s creatively produced dozens of human-interest sports stories and aired them on television or on various social media channels while as a reporter.
“We are extremely excited to have Lexi join the NYSPHSAA team,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “With her knowledge and experience with various social media platforms, her familiarity of interscholastic athletics and NYSPHSAA Championships, and her high level of creativity, she will be a great asset to the NYSPHSAA office, its student-athletes and our membership.”
Swatt, who lettered in four sports while at Johnstown High School in Section 2, is a graduate of Monmouth University where she earned a bachelor's degree in communications.
“I am grateful to Dr. Zayas and the NYSPHSAA team for this opportunity,” said Swatt. “Sharing stories of what makes student-athletes great on and off the field has been my favorite part of my career, and to be able to do so in this capacity will be an honor. I look forward to being an advocate and a resource for the student-athletes and coaches around the state, as well as being part of one of the best athletic associations in the country.”
Swatt’s responsibilities will include managing the NYSPHSAA website, creating original content for NYSPHSAA social media platforms, and handling all media relations. At championships, she will manage on-site live scoring, broadcasting contracts, press row/media, and be hands on with operations of state tournaments.
