    The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is set to host the 2^nd Annual Game Day Cheer State Championship on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy (Section 2). The event will be held for just its second year as a state championship following a well-received inaugural competition in Binghamton in 2023.

    This year, the Game Day Cheer State Championships will take place at McDonough Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley for the first time. The site offers ample space and modern facilities to accommodate the growing teams and fan bases attending the event. The move to Hudson Valley is expected to amplify the overall experience for athletes, coaches, and spectators, providing a vibrant atmosphere that showcases school spirit and pride.

    Qualifiers from 9 of out of the 11 the sections will compete in three divisions throughout the day which totals 31 teams and over 350 athletes participating.

    “The Cheer Committee is excited to see how this second year of a State Competition unfolds. Game Day is relatively new in New York State and has grown by leaps and bounds,” stated Jennifer Simmons, Gameday Cheer State Coordinator. “It offers so much to the teams, schools and communities. It is a fun event with lots of school pride on display."

    In 2023, The Ursuline School (I) took home the Class A title while Seaford (VIII) and Putnam Valley (I) earned the Class B and C titles.

    Tickets are $12 including all fees and are available for purchase online on GoFan.

    Doors will open at 9:00 AM with Class B beginning at 10:00 AM. Class A will kick off at 11:45 AM and Class C will start at 1:00 PM. Once the last section performs, there will be a final round at 2:20 PM and an awards ceremony to follow. The entire event will be streamed on the NFHS Network, the official broadcasting partner of NYSPHSAA.
