The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is set to host the Girls Tennis Individual State Championships on Monday, October 27 through Wednesday, October 29. For the second consecutive year, the event will take place at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing. Looking ahead, all four NYSPHSAA tennis events (boys and girls) will be held at the National Tennis Center for the next three years.
The tournament kicks off early on Monday with 96 student-athletes competing in a singles and doubles competition. Two rounds of play will be conducted on the first day followed by quarterfinals, semifinals, and consolations on day two, then the tournament closes with the finals and medal round on the third day.
“Starting with over 6,000 NYSPHSAA girls’ varsity players hailing from over 400 teams from ten sections, the 2025 season will conclude in a competitive crescendo at the National Tennis Center as a championship tournament will be held for singles and doubles featuring a 32-entry draw for each,” said Chris Horgan, Girls Tennis State Coordinator. “It will be a very entertaining few days of fantastic tennis. Congratulations to all for advancing to this stage.”
In 2024, Angel Walia of Herricks High School (VIII) took home her first singles state championship. In doubles play, Allison Tsai and Michelle Rosenblit of Horace Greeley High School (I) won their first state championship.
Senior Sakura Hino of Keio Academy (I) was a finalist in 2024 and will return to the 2025 state tournament for singles play. Senior Michelle Rosenblit will be looking for her second straight title in 2025. She has a new partner this year, her sister, Daniella Rosenblit.
The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, one of the world's largest public tennis facilities, is home to the US Open and its centerpiece arena, Arthur Ashe Stadium. It is active throughout the year hosting players, programs, and events on the grounds and at its Indoor Training Center.
The event is free and open to the public. The schedule is below. For more information about this event, visit the girl’s tennis landing page on
