The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) returns to the Cortland area to conduct its Girls Soccer State Championships on Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16. This year's state tournament will be played at Cortland High School, Homer High School, and Dryden High School. The Cortland area located in Section III has hosted this event for 18 straight years and will host this event through 2026.  
 
“This event is truly an amazing weekend. Fantastic venues, 24 Teams, 18 games, 6 champions crowned at the end of the day,” said Matt Wood, NYSPHSAA Girls Soccer State Coordinator.  “The state’s best teams will display outstanding soccer all weekend and battle it out to be a state champion.” 
 
The 2024 state champions were Ward Melville (Section XI) in Class AAA, Albertus Magnus (Section I) in Class AA, Pittsford Mendon (Section V) in Class A, Marcellus (Section III) in Class B, Byron-Bergen (Section V) in Class C, and Northville (Section II) in Class D. Albertus Magnus, Marcellus, and Byron-Bergen each qualified for this year’s tournament again and seek back-to-back titles in Classes AA, B, and C, respectively. 
 
The event this year will feature six classifications with four teams qualifying from each class. Approximately 750 athletes from 24 different schools will get to participate for the chance of winning a state crown. There will be 12 semifinals on Saturday (all classifications will play) then on Sunday, all six finals will be played at two sites—Cortland High School and Homer High School.  
 
The ticket price for the event is $13.60 per person including fees and can be purchased online at nysphsaa.org. If you can’t attend the event in person, all games will be streamed on the NFHS Network, the official broadcasting partner of NYSPHSAA.
