The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is set to host the 2025 Boys Volleyball State Championships on November 22-23 at Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester and Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua.  Neither has hosted a NYSPHSAA State Tournament until now but will host this one through 2027.

“The fall volleyball season went very well in our state and we’re excited that another state tournament is upon us,” said John Coletta, NYSPHSAA Boys Volleyball State Coordinator. “The field is full of talent in both Division 1 and Division 2 especially now with the addition of more teams and the pool play format, which means we’re sure to see a lot of quality play this weekend. We’re looking forward to two new sites to host this event. Both colleges have been outstanding to work with thus far in the planning process.”

The event will see competition in two divisions with eight teams qualifying in each division. Divisions have been divided into two random pools and teams will play each other once in pool play then the top two will advance to the finals based on pool play record. Pool play kicks off at 9:00 am at both sites Saturday, then semifinals begin at 9 am on Sunday at Roberts Wesleyan, which is also where the finals will be played beginning at 3:00 pm. This is the first year champions from each of seven sections (in each division) will advance to states along with an at-large team in each division.

In 2024, Penfield (Section V) took home the Division 1 State Championship. Eastport-South Manor (Section XI) took home the Division 2 State Championship. Penfield and Eastport-South Manor are both returning to this year’s event while Clarence (Section VI) returns as the only runner up from 2024. Penfield and Eastport-South Manor are looking to win their 3rd Championship in the last five years.

Tickets are only available online and can be purchased at https://gofan.co/app/school/NYSPHSAA. Prices are $13.60 includes fees for each day. The event will be streamed on the NFHS Network, the official broadcasting partner of the NYSPHSAA State Championships.
