The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is set to conduct its first ever Girls Wrestling Individual State Championship. This event will be taking place on Thursday, February 27
th @ 10:00 am at MVP Arena in downtown Albany. MVP Arena has been the venue for the boys wrestling individual championships since 2005 (separate preview).
The 2025 Girls State Championships will see 212 athletes compete in one division and 13 weight classes. Brackets will be 16 girls per weight class with the top six finishers being recognized on the podium following the finals. Girls from each of the 11 member sections have qualified for this event and were seeded based on their performances during the season.
“We are truly looking forward to three incredible events this winter including hosting the first ever Girls Wrestling State Championship,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “The MVP arena will be a great place to showcase the girls state championship the day before the longstanding boys championship kicks off.”

9:30 AM….……………………Parade of Champions/National Anthem
10:00 am – 12:00 PM.………Preliminaries
12:00 – 2:00 PM……………..Quarterfinals
2:00 – 4:00 PM…..………......Semifinals & Wrestle backs
4:00 PM……………………....Finals (1 mat)
