The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is set to host the girls and boys bowling state championship on Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16 at Strike N’ Spare Lanes in Syracuse. This is the first year of a new three-year bid at Strike N’ Spare which has hosted every year since 2018. In 2017, the event was also held in Syracuse but was at The Oncenter when the USBC Championships were held there in collaboration with NYSPHSAA’s event.

“Strike N’ Spare really is one of the most suitable ‘houses’ in the entire state to be able to host our event,” said Mike O’Connell, NYSPHSAA Boys Bowling State Coordinator. “They have the number of lanes we need to run our composite and individual events efficiently in three days. We’re excited to return there.”

The 11 member sections will send over 550 boys and girls to compete in the championships in a composite and divisional format starting at 12:00 pm on Friday with Division 1 competing all day. On Saturday, the girls composite format will get underway at 8:00 am and the boys will play at 2:00 pm. Then on Sunday, Division 2 will begin bowling starting at 9:00 am.

In 2024, the Division 1 tournaments were won by Corning (IV) led by head coach Will Condon in the boys bracket, while Columbia (2), led by Lisa Johnas, won the girls bracket. For the Division 2 tournament, West Seneca East (VI), led by Kevin Stablewski, won the boys bracket, while Depew (VI), led by Raymond Cooper, won the girls bracket.

Strike N’ Spare Lanes was previously one of the largest bowling centers in New York State with 72 lanes until renovations in 2023 reduced it to 64 lanes due to adding more settee space, a large video game arcade area, new tile flooring, new ceilings and new lighting. The venue will continue to efficiently allow NYSPHSAA to conduct approximately 2,100 state tournament games this weekend and allow for good spectator viewing.

Tickets are $12 (including fees) for the day and can be purchased only online on GoFan . The event schedule can be found on the championship page.
