Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville will host the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Boys Golf State Championship. From Sunday, June 8 through Monday, June 9, 100 of the top high school golfers from across the state will compete for individual and team titles.

The tournament begins with a practice round on Saturday, followed by Round 1 on Sunday, June 8 with tee times starting at 9:00 AM and concludes with the final round on Monday, June 9, beginning at 7:30 AM.

Mill Creek sits on the highest point in Monroe County with great views of Rochester and the Finger Lakes. The 18-hole championship course has rolling hills, creeks, and waterfalls, making it a tough test for top golfers.

The 2024 championship resulted in one of the most thrilling finishes in the event’s history when Joseph Dolezal, a senior from The Wheatley School (Section VIII), forced a playoff with a clutch birdie on the final hole and went on to capture the title on the second extra hole. His closest challenger, freshman Ken Fernandes of Horace Greeley (Section I), had carried a two-shot lead into the 18th  before slipping late.

Fernandes returns this year as a sophomore and is assured to make a strong run especially after impressing everyone with the tournament’s lowest single round (67) last year. Also returning is Victor High School senior Brody Burgess (Section V), a three-time state qualifier who tied for fourth place last year with a brilliant closing round.

Other notable returnees include Josh Van from Newburgh Free Academy (Section IX), who finished third last year at five under par, and Evan Steffen from Maple Grove (Section VI), who shared fourth place with Burgess in 2024. Both bring strong games and experience to the competition.

With a mix of seasoned veterans, eager newcomers, the 2025 NYSPHSAA Boys Golf Championship promises plenty of excitement and compelling storylines.
