Following a successful run at the Edison Club in Rexford from 2022-24, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Girls Golf State Championship will move to Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, NY (Section V) from June 6-8, 2025. The event will showcase the top female golfers from across New York State competing for both individual and team titles. The tournament is scheduled over three days beginning with a practice round on Saturday, June 7th. Competition officially kicks off on Sunday, June 8th with the first round starting at 11:00 AM followed by the final round on Monday, June 9
th beginning at 9:00 AM with a shotgun start.
Wild Wood Country Club is known for its beautiful and challenging course with tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers, and rolling greens that test both skill and strategy.
With the graduation of three-time individual champion Kennedy Swedick of Albany Academy (Section II), who made history by winning three consecutive titles from 2022 to 2024, the 2025 championship marks the start of a new era for girls golf in New York. Swedick’s remarkable legacy sets a high bar, but her departure opens the door for a new champion to rise.
Among the top returners is senior Emma Lee from Scarsdale (Section I), a two-time runner-up who finished second to Swedick in both 2023 and 2024. Another exciting contender is freshman Hayden Knapp from South Glens Falls (Section II), who tied for fourth place as an eighth grader last year and brings valuable national experience, including competing in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals at Augusta. With many of last year’s top 10 finishers graduating, the 2025 championship also promises the emergence of fresh talent, especially among underclassmen and sectional qualifiers from across the state.
