LATHAM, NY – The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. (NYSPHSAA) is proud to announce its Scholar-Athlete teams and number of Scholar-Athlete individuals per team for the 2025 spring season. This marks the 32nd year NYSPHSAA has conducted the Scholar-Athlete program.

A total of 48,917 students earned individual Scholar-Athlete distinction by achieving an average of 90 or above, regardless of their team’s qualification status. In addition, 3,149 teams were honored as Scholar-Athlete teams for meeting the criteria of having at least 75% of the team’s roster average a GPA of 90 or higher for the spring season marking period.

These numbers reflect a significant increase from the spring 2024 season, with more than 1,700 additional student-athletes and 100 more teams earning recognition this year.

“Congratulations to the student-athletes for their hard work and dedication in both academics and athletics,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “We also commend the 583 participating schools for emphasizing the value of education as a key part of the high school experience.”
