The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Wrestling Dual Meet State Championships return to the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College in Syracuse on Saturday, January 31st. This is the 8th year of the Dual Meet Wrestling State Championships—a one-day event.

In 2025, Division 1 winner, Minisink Valley (Section IX) dominated pool play then overwhelmed Farmingdale (Section VIII), 51-13 in the state final to win its third team championship. The Division 2 team champion was John Glenn (Section XI)—the 2024 Runner Up snuck by Plainedge (Section VIII), 38-29 thanks to wins in the final matches. Minisink Valley will return to the state tournament as the #1 seed, and has now qualified for all eight of the NYSPHSAA Dual Championships vying for its fourth state title since 2020. Also returning from the 2025 tournament are Webster Schroeder (V), Shenendehowa (2), Sachem North (XI), Chatauqua Lake-Westfield-Panama (VI), Nanuet (1), Port Jervis (IX) and Gouverneur (X).

“The NYSPHSAA Staff and Wrestling State Committee are both very excited for this year's Dual Meet State Championships hosted by the SRC Arena,” said Marty Sherman, Wrestling State Coordinator.  “Some of the elite teams across New York State will be competing and will make this event exciting to watch whether you’re a parent or casual fan. Now in the 8th year of this championship, it’s a great event to spend the day watching the best teams wrestle.”

The event will see 24 teams competing in 2 divisions, comprised from the 11 NYSPHSAA sections.  Each section will send a representative for each division (excluding Section VII in Division 1) and there are also two at-large entries for Division 1 and one at-large entry for Division 2. Each team will compete in three pool play matches with the top four teams in each division advancing to the semifinals.

“This is a really exciting wrestling event to be a part of and watch if you’re a fan,” said Brad Hamer, NYSPHSAA Wrestling Duals Tournament Coordinator and Section III Wrestling Coordinator. “Section III is proud to be the host for the 8th year. We’re centrally located and provide a great venue suitable for this event along with a great staff and local volunteers. It will be a treat for everyone to watch this weekend.”
