Latham, NY- The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) is proud to announce the Queensbury/Lake George Boys Ice Hockey Team as the 2026 Winter NYSPHSAA Community Service Challenge Winner. Their submission was selected by the NYSPHSAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for its sustained commitment to community service.
For over a decade, the Queensbury/Lake George Boys Ice Hockey program has demonstrated a strong dedication to giving back, organizing and participating in numerous service initiatives that support local families and community members in need. Their efforts reflect a culture rooted in compassion, teamwork, and responsibility beyond the rink.
“This recognition means a great deal to our program because it reflects what we value beyond the game,” said Head Coach Dean Williams. “Our players understand being part of a team isn’t just about what happens on the ice, it’s about showing up for your community when it matters most. I’m incredibly proud of the commitment, compassion, and leadership they’ve demonstrated, and the impact they make off the ice is just as powerful as what they accomplish in a game.”
“Winning the NYSPHSAA Community Service Challenge Award is an incredible honor for our entire team,” said senior captain Eagan Breault. “It represents more than what we accomplish on the ice. It reflects the pride, commitment, and impact of Queensbury/Lake George Hockey, shows how much we value giving back, and we hope our efforts inspire others for generations to come.”
The Queensbury/Lake George Boys Ice Hockey Team’s recognition contributes to the broader impact of the 2026 Winter Community Service Challenge. During the winter season alone, NYSPHSAA member schools completed 246 community service projects with 10,527 student-athletes participating, 51,805 volunteer hours served, and $139,900 raised for charitable causes.
“We are incredibly proud of the Queensbury/Lake George Boys Ice Hockey Team for their long-standing commitment to service,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “Their dedication exemplifies the mission of the Community Service Challenge and highlights the powerful role student-athletes play in strengthening their communities.”
The NYSPHSAA Community Service Challenge utilizes the Team Up for Community (TU4C) platform and encourages schools and student-athletes to participate in service projects throughout the year. The deadline to submit projects for the Spring Community Service Challenge is Monday, May 11th.
