The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) will showcase 32 of the top singles players and 64 doubles players in the state as they compete for a state championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY. The singles & doubles state tournaments are a three-day event, beginning on Friday, June 5 and concluding on Sunday, June 7.

“We are looking forward to a beautiful weekend at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center,” said Michael Scaturro, NYSPHSAA Boys Tennis State Coordinator. “We will bring the best boys tennis talent from across the state to the top venue in the world to compete for a State Championship. It will be a great three days of tennis.”

The 2026 NYSPHSAA Boys Singles Championship features numerous returning players including Will Bohner (Friends Academy, Section VIII) and Justin Barrett (Liverpool, Section III). Bohner reached the Round of 16 and Barrett was a quarterfinalist in 2025. Their experience adds depth to a bracket that blends seasoned talent with rising stars.

The 2025 singles champion Alexander Suhanitski (New Rochelle, Section I) has turned his attention solely on doubles competition this year, partnering with teammate Fynn Bowman in pursuit of a doubles state title for New Rochelle this year. The 2025 doubles state champions Pratik Nayak and Christopher Cho (Clarkstown South, Section I) also return to the tournament, bringing championship experience to the field. Joining them are Christian Bravo and Benjamin Wiese of Garden City (Section VIII) who advanced to the quarterfinals last year before falling to Nayak and Cho.

Several doubles players return to the field after playing in 2025, but some without their previous year’s partners. Henry Xue (Horace Greeley, Section I), Charles Martin (Briarcliff, Section I), and Andrew Balsamo (Fairport, Section V) will each have new partners in this year’s doubles state tournament while. Nikhil Shah and partner Aayan Metha (Syosset, Section VIII) along with Nayak and Cho (Clarkstown South, Section I) will play together again in the state tournament.

The first round of matches will begin with singles at 8:00 AM on Friday, June 5 followed by doubles play. Each will play a second round in the afternoon. Quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, June 6, also starting at 8:00 AM. The 2026 NYSPHSAA Boys Singles and Doubles State Finals and Medal Matches will be played on Sunday, June 7 starting at 8:00 AM.

On Friday, June 12, NYSPHSAA will return to the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center for the NYSPHSAA Team Tennis Championships and crown champions in two divisions.
